In brief video clip, hunger striker Khader Adnan speaks out from hospital bed

Democracy Now today aired a brief video clip of Khader Adnan, who is now in his 65th day of hunger strike against his detention without charge or trial by Israel.

“Until freedom, pride and dignity”

The video, whose date is uncertain, is said to have surfaced on Sunday. It shows Adnan’s unmistakble visage through the door of a hospital room just before an armed guard closes it.

Adnan can be heard shouting an a strong voice, “the strike will continue, the strike will continue…. until freedom, pride and dignity.”

Adnan is being held by Israel under guard at Ziv hospital in Safad.

High Court hearing brought forward

Meanwhile, Addameer, the Palestinian prisoner’s rights group announced via Twitter that the Israeli high court had agreed to bring its hearing of Adnan’s petition forward to tomorrow, 21 February, from its originally scheduled date of 23 February.

Due to the length of his hunger strike, doctors are gravely concerned that Adnan could die at any moment.
