Video: To Khader Adnan, on hunger strike for 50 days

The life of Khader Adnan is at “immediate risk,” Jacques de Maio, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, said today.

The Palestinian political prisoner has been on total hunger strike since 7 May – almost 50 days – to protest his prolonged “administrative detention” by Israeli occupation forces without charge or trial.

The ICRC called on Israel to allow Adnan’s family to visit him. He has not been allowed to see them for more than two months.

As The Electronic Intifada reported Sunday, Adnan’s family and Palestinian human rights defenders have made urgent appeals for international intervention to save his life.

Activists from International Women’s Peace Service in Florida are planning a 24-hour hunger strike and rally outside the Red Cross building in Tampa on Thursday in solidarity with Adnan.
