Palestine solidarity activists in Thessaloniki, Greece, engaged in a creative action in support of the Palestinian-led call for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Israeli policies of apartheid and ethnic cleansing on 28 May when they entered an Estee Lauder cosmetics store with tree saplings in tow. The British prime minister has stepped down from his position as honorary patron of the Jewish National Fund (JNF). The move comes as pressure on the JNF steps up in Britain, and is being hailed by activists as a big victory in the boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign. On Monday 16 May, the Jewish National Fund (JNF) held a fundraiser at the Lincoln Center in New York City featuring the Broadway play “Scottsboro Boys.” Since the JNF plant trees and forests over ethnically-cleansed Palestinian villages to try and erase traces of their existence we (Existence is Resistance, Artists Against Apartheid, StoptheJNF.org and Max Blumenthal among others) decided to bring trees to give away.
